Kirk Eggleston is a Michigan native. While growing up his grandmother, Ruth Eggleston, used to gather the grandchildren in the living room and practice “round robin” storytelling. Each person would give two to three sentences of a story then pass it to the next person in line to continue weaving the tale.
Having sparked a love for creative storytelling, he took the next step in his fifth-grade English class with Ms. McCallum. Every Monday she required her students to write one page on what they did over the weekend. If they had a boring weekend they were permitted to write fiction. Needless to say, his parents were contacted a lot about his propensity to write only fiction.
Growing up on Dragonlance, The Dark is Rising, and The Death Gate Cycle drew him into the Fantasy Adventure genre, which was reenforced by an addiction to the Final Fantasy series of games as well as the online role-playing games EverQuest and World of Warcraft. Later he became hooked on the Game of Thrones novels by George R.R. Martin.
Kirk Eggleston enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the spring of 2004 and retired in the fall of 2024. With his newfound free time, he is pursuing his passion that had been placed on hold. Blending his military experience, real-life events, and love for fantasy, he attempts to bring a level of realism to mythical worlds.
